二、家庭佛堂：夫妻学佛或全家共同信仰，是最好不过；如果家中有裕余的空间或房间，可设置成佛堂。设置佛堂时，应选择客厅的正位，也就是主人所坐位置的方向。佛像背后不宜临窗，应面对门窗，阳光充足，使人进门一目了然，更能感受一室的静諡祥和。如家中有多余的房间，可选择较宁静处，能隔开小孩、猫狗嬉戏出入，或会客谈笑、宴饮等吵杂声，若能作为礼诵、禅修专用更好。此外，选择空间上应避免把佛像朝向厕所、炉灶，或直接面对卧床。
三、佛像的选择：家中供奉的佛菩萨圣像，切勿太多、太杂，可以一佛代表万佛，一菩萨代表一切佛菩萨。一般家庭大多供奉释迦牟尼佛、阿弥陀佛、药师佛、观世音菩萨，任择其一即可。佛像大小应考虑佛堂空间，并注意与烛台、香炉的比例相称，放置时将佛像略为垫高，必定更为庄严。
四、设置佛堂时间：佛门里，日日是好日，不必择日择时。何时是最好日？初一、十五应该是最好的良辰吉时，只要备办香、花、灯、果、茶，及一颗清净、虔信的心。如果更求隆重，可备办素食供菜(不宜用腥荤)；学佛即要学佛的慈悲，故平日任何喜庆、祭拜，应用素食。
